Women's Self Defense Workshop
Presented by WomenStrength Personal Safety
About this Event
As a Realtor, I often find myself alone with strangers. I realized that while I am loud, and I like to think strong, I have no idea what I'd actually do if caught alone in a compromising situation.
As I started researching self-defense classes in PDX, I decided that I wanted to include my community and kick off the year feeling confident together.
Bring a bud, have a snack and learn the principles of self-defense taught by Kendra Bender of WomenStrength via the Portland Police Bureau.
During our ~90 minute workshop, we'll learn about:
prevention strategies
how to recognize when one is being targeted for an attack
the pros and cons of various options for ending an attack
how to physically defend yourself if de-escalation techniques do not work
In typical Derse fashion, we'll have some time for snacks and mingling before and after the workshop.
Please dress comfortably and try and arrive on time (note: 3/8 is Daylight Savings!).
This event is designed with adult women in mind (for girls aged 10-17 please check out Girls Strength). Feel free to bring friends, just make sure they sign up so that I can plan accordingly as space is limited.
Let me know directly if you have any questions! Hope to see you soon!
